Cristiano Ronaldo has been ruled out of tomorrow's Primera Division showdown with Sevilla due to injury.

The Real Madrid forward has been unable to fully recover from the ankle knock he received during the midweek Champions League win over Marseille and has been left out of Manuel Pellegrini's 18-man man squad for the trip south.

Losing Ronaldo is a blow for Madrid as he has been in prolific form at the start of the season, scoring nine goals in seven competitive appearances following his world-record move from Manchester United in the summer.

Also missing for Madrid are Lassana Diarra, Alvaro Arbeloa, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Fernando Gago as the league leaders look to continue their 100% start to the campaign against third-placed Sevilla.

Roberto Carlos is keen to return to his former club Real Madrid and is prepared to play for free, the Brazilian left-back was quoted as saying on Wednesday.

Roberto Carlos, who played 475 times for Real between 1996 and 2007 and scored 62 goals, told Spain's As newspaper he had decided to leave his Turkish club Fenerbahce in December.

"I would be prepared to play six months in Madrid without pay," the 36-year-old said.

"From January to June and who knows maybe I could stay around a year more."

Asked whether he was serious about playing without pay, he said: "Of course. I would like to. I spent some marvellous years in Madrid, I won everything and I consider it my home."

Roberto Carlos won four Spanish league and three Champions League titles with Real and said even if he could not return as a player he would like to coach in the club's youth setup.

Karim Benzema has stunned Real Madrid by stating that he does not want to play up front with Raul and is furious about being constantly substituted during matches, according to a report in Sport.

The moody French striker raged at coach Manuel Pellegrini after the defeat in Sevilla, when he was again withdrawn, because he was assured that he would not be rotated.

The report states that Benzema's attitude has not gone down well at the Santiago Bernabeu and that his outburst may have more serious repercussions within the squad.
