PostForum: JWG Berita Dunia IT   Posted: Fri Jun 19, 2009 12:14 am   Subject: Intel Confirms Core i3, i5 and i7
After months of speculations on how Intel will expand its Core brand for the Nehalem architecture, the company finally confirmed the i3 and i5. Now it is more than obvious that Intel's approach was heavily influenced by BMW and their naming scheme [3-Series, 5-Series and 7-Series].

Bill Calder explained that the company will now use "modifiers" for brand separation, keeping Core as the "hero" brand for the company. The entry level processors will be market as "Core i3", mainstream level "Core i5" and Core i7 is the crown jewel. While in idea, this might be good idea and a follow-up to the excellent Stars rating scheme [it may be ludicrous to techies, but it helps when explaining to the regular consumers].

But, these modifiers will not be tied to a specific processor codename. For instance, Intel will use the both Core i5 and i7 "modifiers" for 45nm Lynnfield processors: on the desktop segment, we will have Lynnfield quad-core processors named as Core i5. But in the notebook space, quad-core Lynnfield [Clarksfield] will carry the Core i7 moniker, as it will be the best and the fastest processor for notebooks.

Moving on, 32nm Clarkdale and Arrandale will be branded either as Core i3 or Core i5, depending on the use: desktop receives i3; notebook receives i5 "modifier" branding. This approach is identical to nVidia's controversial decision to name a three-year old architecture as the brand new one, with their GeForce GTX280M, and that certainly wasn't helped with the fact that lower-end GTX200M series chips now support DirectX 10.1 and GDDR5 memory, while the alleged top-end supports only DirectX 10.0 and GDDR3 memory.

If anything goes wrong, neither Intel nor nVidia cannot claim that they didn't cook the mess themselves. Consumers may be treated as an uneducated bunch, but that time is passing. To us, it looks like the IT industry is turning into an automotive one, and we all know how that ended up. Consumers grew up. Giants didn't, and that's why Big Three is now being chopped to pieces. We hope that nVidia and Intel will be smarter than that.

The simplest and the best branding scheme in the It industry still goes out to Apple, there is no doubt about it.

Fourth-generation Army Col. William McNamara is imprisoned in a brutal German POW camp. Still, as the senior-ranking American officer, he commands his fellow inmates, keeping a sense of honor alive in a place where honor is easy to destroy, all under the dangerous eye of the Luftwafe vetran Col. Wilhelm Visser. Never giving up the fight to win the war, McNamara is silently planning, waiting for his moment to strike back at the enemy. A murder in the camp gives him the chance to set a risky plan in motion. With a court martial to keep Visser and the Germans distracted, McNamara orchestrates a cunning scheme to escape and destroy a nearby munitions plant, enlisting the unwitting help of young Lt. Tommy Hart. Together with his men, McNamara uses a hero's resolve to carry out his mission, ultimately forced to weigh the value of his life against the good of his country

United: Season player ratings

Quote:
Stuart Mathieson

June 09, 2009

STAR MAN

NEMANJA VIDIC: His United colleagues voted the uncompromising defender as their Player of the Year and you cannot argue with that, as he has been a rock. Three red cards didn't derail him, but his display in Rome put a dampener on things. 9 best

EDWIN VAN DER SAR: The Dutchman's contribution to the 14-match record breaking clean sheet sequence was the foundation for United's crucial mid-season form. 8

GARY NEVILLE: Mixed early form as he battled for role with teenager Rafael. But since his groin problem in February the captain has struggled to make impact. 5

JOHN O'SHEA: Played more matches than anybody which has been a testimony to his resilience. Won over critics with his steady effort. 7

RAFAEL: Brilliant impact by the teenage Brazilian and hasn't been over-used. A fantastic Euro debut against Aalborg and keeping Robinho quiet in the away Manchester derby were the highlights. 8

RIO FERDINAND: Was a major candidate for Player of the Year awards in the first half of the season but his mid-term back spasm interrupted that. But back to top form. 8

JONNY EVANS: Replaced the injured Ferdinand in the middle of the history-making clean sheet run and kept the solidity going smoothly. Assured future as a Reds centre back. 7

PATRICE EVRA: The first half of season saw the Frenchman in top form. His draconian ban in December and subsequent ankle injury rocked him backwards but he has been more like his true self lately. 7

DARREN FLETCHER: All his critics have been put to flight this season. Now a true vital cog in United's tactics. 8

PAUL SCHOLES: Medial knee ligament cost him two months in October and November. There have been patches of Scholes at his peak and that's not a bad ace for Sir Alex Ferguson to hold. 6

NANI: The majority are yet to be fully convinced about the Portuguese winger's ability. Hasn't done enough to warrant a regular spot, and has been disappointing. 4

RYAN GIGGS: The PFA Player of the Year, and you don't get that solely on sentiment, no matter what anyone says. Has had another new lease of life but unable to find it in Italy. 8

MICHAEL CARRICK: Rated by Inter Milan as United's key figure and earmarked by Barcelona as the Reds' pivotal player. Not bad recommendations, even if he could not quite carry that into Champions League final. 8

ANDERSON: Appeared to suffer second season syndrome in first half of the campaign. Lacked the impact he had last term, but has improved in the spring before disappointing in Rome. 6

JI-SUNG PARK: The workaholic Korean continues to give value for money as a disciplined wide player who the manager can trust to do a job. 7

CRISTIANO RONALDO: Took a while to settle down after last summer's ankle op, and the weight of expectation was on him, but he has come through it splendidly. 26 goals is a fantastic return. 8

CARLOS TEVEZ: The fans' favourite hasn't let them down with his all-out effort. Cannot really complain about his match minutes. If it's farewell, it will be a fond one. 8

WAYNE ROONEY: The England striker has been transformed into a brilliant wide left midfield player who causes so much danger coming in from the flank but Rome was the disappointing exception. 8

DIMITAR BERBATOV: The jury is still out on the Bulgarian. An over-priced luxury or a value for money key strike option? Has split the fans but he's had a decent start. 7

BEN FOSTER: The unlucky understudy to van der Sar was the hero of the Carling Cup final and has clearly put down his marker as a future number one. 7

Ferguson to hit Arsenal on the counter-attack
Reuters

Lessons learned in countless European campaigns will ensure Manchester United attack Arsenal the right way in Tuesday's Champions League semi-final second leg, their manager Alex Ferguson said on Monday.

The holders carry a 1-0 lead into the game courtesy of John O'Shea's goal but could and should have scored more, particularly in the first half when they totally dominated.

The nature of the tie has now changed, however, with Arsenal forced to attack on home soil, and Ferguson is confident that his team will hurt them on the counter.

Spoiler:

Quote:

"We have to go there with the intent of trying to score, I think we need to score, and it's important to have a threat," the Scot told a news conference.

"That would put us in a very strong position but I still think it will be a very close. It should be an engrossing game."

Having been caught out before when throwing everything forward to try to kill a tie off early, Ferguson is likely to instruct his players to play a cagey game initially.

"That counter-attacking is part of modern football and something that has really developed in the European game in the last six or seven years," he said.

"We had a spell, after we won it in 1999, when we were disappointing and had to change our thinking. We lost to PSV Eindhoven and Anderlecht away and there were some others, all on the counter-attack. But there has been a good consistency in the last few years."

With Robin van Persie set to slot back in up front for Arsenal, Ferguson expects them to return to a 4-4-2 formation but he recognises that neither manager will be able to spring many surprises.

"There's a deeper knowledge than a normal European game," he said. "We see them every week, we compete with them every season. There's nothing we don't know about them and nothing they don't know about us and with video analysis, there's nothing you can hide."

There was good news for United on Monday when centre back Rio Ferdinand trained after the bruised lung that had him coughing up blood before going off in the first leg.

Midfielder Michael Carrick said the return of Ferdinand, who missed Saturday's comfortable 2-0 Premier League win over Middlesbrough, was a real lift.

"Rio has the experience of playing at the top level for a number of years, he's just got that presence," Carrick said of his England team mate.

"He talks a lot and makes a difference when he's there."

Patrice Evra sat out Monday's session but Ferguson expects him to be fit. The fullback, along with Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez, is one booking away from missing the final but Ferguson said he would not be raising the issue.

"I won't address it all, I don't need to, he knows the circumstances and is very mature," said Ferguson, who lost Roy Keane and Paul Scholes from the 1999 final victory over Bayern Munich through suspension.

"We've got a good referee on Tuesday and I've noticed a trend that referees know that three bookings in the whole competition and you can miss the final...they are very professional and handle the situation well."

Man Utd's Giggs named PFA Player of the Year

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has been named Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year - the first time he has won the award in his glittering career.

The 35-year-old had picked up the young player's award twice and has now been voted for the top accolade by his fellow professionals following his exemplary season, which looks likely to end with his 11th Premier League title.

Spoiler:

Quote:

"It's right up there, with personal accolades it's the best to have as it's voted by your fellow players,'' Giggs said.

"I've been fortunate to win a lot of trophies, I won the young player award twice, but this is the big one.''

Giggs has only started 12 league games this season but has been a regular in the squad for all competitions, with the award acknowledging the respect he has from opponents.

If he plays against Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final first leg this week, it will be his 800th appearance for United, although the landmark is not as important to him as adding to his trophy haul.

"It's an exciting season,'' he said. "I think it is going to go right to the wire, there's big game after big game now. That is what you want and need at a club like Manchester United.''

Giggs paid tribute to his manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, and also suggested he may play on beyond his current contract, which expires at the end of next season.

"The manager has been massive in my career from when I first met him when I was 13,'' Giggs said.

"That's over 20 years and he knows me better than anyone and our relationship has been brilliant and just gets better.

"I've been so fortunate to have such a great career in so many great teams, it's not even worth thinking about what it would have been like without the manager.''

The Welshman has started taking his coaching badges, which may be a hint at the future, but he added: "As long as I'm getting picked, enjoying it and injury-free, I'll carry on as long as I can. At 35 you can't look too far into the distance, you just can't.''

Aston Villa winger Ashley Young picked up the Young Player of the Year award and believes it is a sign of the progress his club have made this season.

"It's a massive achievement for the club and my team-mates around me,'' Young said. "It's a great honour and I'm delighted.''

John McDermott, the former Grimsby player who spent 20 years at the club, was given the Merit award for his services to the game.

"I thought it was one of the lads winding me up, a real shock,'' he said. "To still be recognised, I was flattered and honoured.''

The PFA divisional team of the year has six United players and also included Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka, who was in goalscoring form until the votes were cast but has not found the net since February. Portsmouth right-back Glen Johnson was also included.

Premier League team of the year: Van der Sar, G Johnson, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, A Young, Gerrard, Giggs, Ronaldo, Anelka, Torres

Defence & midfield still x confident utk main pada tahap Champion

tak jugak kot best
kalau tak confident main
lebih lagi pada level of highest order
dah tentu lebih banyak players akan buat mistake

ni lebih pada individual concentration & experience

contoh:
- evans baru 1st time dapat runout
paling lama dalam se-season
- dan prior to this few games .. evans nampak solid sebab ada consistency
- concentration ok .. defensive understanding ok
- hilang concentration at certain period .. mungkin due to fatigue
- lagi pun .. aku rasa evans carry on injuries la
sikit2 asyik injured .. ankle tu biasa la .. dapat knock
ni dapat groin pulak adoyai dia ni

- neville pulak .. walaupun experience banyak
- tapi kalau fitness tak ada .. game pace tak ada .. memang KO la
- kalau fitness kurang .. kita punya concentration pun kurang

- oshea .. korang sendiri faham la
- ada masa .. memang superb
- most of the time .. average
- paling menyedihkan .. important period, buat mistake adoyai dia ni

united tak ada defence stability sekarang ni
midfielders pun tak cover defence as much as possible
focus tu hilang tah pergi mana

1st_best wrote:
tapi 2nd goal mmg aku marah sangat2 dengan die..pastu siap boleh blame org lain..hangin je aku tengok

dari report
oshea yg slice head cross ball tu

bukan ek?
kiranya ni positioning neville yg salah la ye

ke porto beat offside trap
dan neville terlibat

1st_best wrote:
skrang mcm dah lost confident kat UCL

kalau confident dah takde dalam cup competition
especially after last game punya result
kenapa tak let in 5 goal je terus

tak pun
masa tengah leading 2-1
with couple of minutes to go
kalau tak ada confident
kenapa tak concede je 2-3 goal lagi

ada beza term confidence dengan focus, concentration & consistency

1st_best wrote:
better concentrate kat EPL

apa yg nak dirugikan best
champs league one game away je untuk ke semis
why dump it out?

kalau ada luck & provide better performance next week
who knows .. boleh masuk semis

united punya focal point of attack pun injured
united punya partner in defence pun injured
midfield not creative & defensive enough

kalau 3 perkara ni ada
rasanya it wont be much of a problem

Ronaldo rejects speculation
United star insists he is happy at Old Trafford despite Real rumours

Cristiano Ronaldo has once again reiterated his desire to stay at Manchester United despite rumours of his future resurfacing.

Reports over the weekend suggested that Real Madrid had agreed a price for the winger but that has now been dismissed by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The question received a frosty response from the Scot with the 23-year-old World Player of the year also seemingly unimpressed with the query.

The 67-year-old manager was quoted as saying that he 'wouldn't sell Madrid a virus' during the World Club Cup in December and that viewpoint does not seem to have softened.

Spoiler:

Quote:

"I am happy at this club. I think it is the right club," Ronaldo said.

The reports also suggested that Real had stepped up their interest after hearing that the Portuguese international was growing tired of the constant rough treatment he receives in England.

But the former Sporting ace admitted that this season was no different to the previous five at Old Trafford.

Rough treatment

"It has always been like that," he added.

"It is only normal this season that the defenders have kicked me to try and stop me. It is just normal."

United moved back to the top of the Premier League on Sunday with a last-gasp 3-2 win over Aston Villa thanks to a brace from Ronaldo.

The win ended a run of two straight league defeats and the player is now confident United can secure success at home and abroad.

"We are the best team in England. We have shown that by being top of the table. That speaks for itself." he insisted.

"We respect all our opponents but if we carry on winning, we will win the title again. We have a chance to win everything this season.

"First we have to beat FC Porto. After that, we must carry on."

Ronaldo also sees similarities between his own debut against Bolton in August 2003 and 17-year-old Federico Macheda's first appearance for the senior team on Sunday.

Similarities

The Italian youngster curled a sublime winner past Brad Friedel to ensure a valuable three points for the champions and his team-mate could not be more pleased for him.

"It's similar to me," he pointed out.

"The feeling is quite the same. I remember when I started to play for Manchester against Bolton when I came on (with) 70,000 supporters - it's not easy.

"I play good, I did good skills, good passes. When Kiko (Macheda) scored I know what he is feeling, it is one of the best days of his life.

"He is young and he can still improve and he is good. It is good to be involved with the first team and he scored a goal to help the team.

"I am really, really happy for him."

Ibadah

Ibadah is another branch where the information is also available in the Quran. In the Quran, Allah s.w.t instructs the Muslims to perform certain obligatory ibadah and recommended ibadah. But Allah s.w.t purposely does not mention in detail how these commandments are to be performed (e.g. the methods to perform solat, solatul Jumuat, Hajj, other optional ibadah like zikrullah, and even how to lead our daily lives).

The Quran touches only on some basic fundamental rules and conditions for the ibadah. This is because Allah s.w.t has also instructed us to follow and obey the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, as Allah s.w.t is the One who has taught the Prophet s.a.w. every single thing involving ibadah and performing our daily lives' activities.

The above verse is a clear indication that we have to follow the examples and methods shown by our Prophet s.a.w for ibadah such as Prayer and Charity. In fact the instruction to follow the Prophet s.a.w and to obey him is found in so many verses of the Quran, such as the following:

In other words, to really understand the Quran and to obey and carry out the instructions given by Allah s.w.t in it, we have no choice but to also refer to the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, which are available in the vast collections of Hadiths.

I encourage myself and all my brothers and sisters in Islam, to also make efforts to study the Sunnah as it will help us understand better the messages of the Quran, and to carry out the commands of Allah s.w.t in the proper manner, insyaAllah. This is why we are asked to take
the oath "Muhammadur Rasulullah" in our syahadah. Failing to do so will only hinder us from getting the blessings, guidance and forgiveness from Allah s.w.t.

3.2.2 The beauty of learning the Quran

The Quran is really a miracle from Allah s.w.t. When you put the effort to study it sincerely, you will find the beauty that lies within it. I have a lot of personal experiences on this matter but I don't think I can tell the stories now. Anyway to cut it short, I realise how Allah s.w.t uses the
Quran (if we study it daily) to give some lessons to you.

Allah s.w.t knows what is going to happen to each one of us, so Allah s.w.t will put you in a certain problem or dilemma on one day, but the next day when you read and ponder your next 5-10 verses of the Quran, Allah s.w.t gives the answer to you!

Sometimes I felt the answer was like a "punch to my nose", knocking me from my silly senses! In some other cases, Allah s.w.t gave me the answer to some Aqidah issues that I had trouble with. In some other cases, Allah s.w.t gave me the answer on why I was put through a problem related to wealth or other social issues. True, this is really true. This is not because I am a pious person but because this is the miracle of the Quran and Allah s.w.t is so merciful and is the Planner of all things!!

I also now understand why we are encouraged to repeat reading and pondering the Quran continuously even though we have finished doing it once. This is because the lessons that Allah s.w.t may have planned for you will come around during the second reading, or the third, in fact all the time. So stick to Quranic studies and my personal recommendation is to put some efforts to try and understand the meaning of the Quran from its original Arabic texts, as this will give you much more benefits.

Note that I also discovered that the reading and studying of the Quran has several levels. It really depends on your intention. The non-believers, who study the Quran to find problems with it, will only see what they think as "problems" and they will learn nothing. For example, they might only see that it has a lot of of repetitions, and thus find it uninteresting.

Those who read the Quran without any efforts to understand the meaning will only get rewarded for their efforts to read, but will not get the full benefit from it. Those who read and study the Quran using volumes of tafsir but for the purpose of academic achievements, will only gain what they desire, perhaps a PhD, etc. But those who really study and ponder the meaning of the Quran, asking for Allah s.w.t's guidance, solely to please Him, will understand the deeper meanings of the Quran.

Now I understand why the elaborations of Quranic verses as described by Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jailani throughout his book "Sirrul Asrar", are so deep, that at times I couldn't even understand them. He saw the much deeper meanings of the Quran, especially from the 'purifying the soul'
point of view, because Allah s.w.t had guided him through it.

In summary, learning and pondering the messages of the Quran is very important for every Muslim to do. It shows our commitment to submit and obey all Allah s.w.t's commands, which is what being a Muslim is all about.
