Epic of GilgameshDuration: 4:12 Epic of Gilgamesh November 7, 2009. The epic of Gilgamesh is oldest story ever told. Written in cruciform on stone it lasted thousands of years. The Moses of the Bible must have used this story to free the Hebrew slaves. I have no doubt that Moses read this book. God is a God of the Hebrew slaves not a God of the taskmasters. The epic of Gilgamesh was written in stone just like the 10 Commandments. Writing in stone was a way of preserving things forever. Much of Moses writings was not written in stone, but in cowhide or sheepskins. Moses must have copied the flood story from the epic of Gilgamesh. It is interesting how after Moses met God, some of the things in the epic of Gilgamesh was left out, like immortality. Gilgamesh was the ultimate tyrant king that every man wants to be. He made up the laws and the rules. No woman was allowed to marry unless Gilgamesh had sex with her first. Women did not save their virginity for marriage, they saved it for Gilgamesh. If Gilgamesh did not break their cherry, they were not allowed to marry and destine to be a old maid. Enkidu was a man of the woods, lived off the land and was at one with nature. The wild animals of the forest did not see Enkidu as a threat so they served him. Enkidu was like Grizzly Adams without a gun. Enkidus way of life was a threat to Gilgameshs power. Gilgamesh was afraid others might learn Enkidus ways and live like Enkidu. Gilgameshs plan was to tell the woman Shebat to show Enkidu her sex to seduce him. Shebat shows Enkidu her sex and Enkidu falls for her. Shebat makes Enkidu shave, cut his hair and get a job to purchase clothing in Gilgameshs clothing monopoly and to pay Gilgamesh taxes to support his military. All of this was acceptable to Enkidu because he loved Shebat. But when Gilgamesh said Shebat must have sex with him before they could marry, Enkidu protested and fought with Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh admired Enkidu for his protest as he was not like all the other brainwashed sheep who willingly let him have sex with their wives. Enkidu and Gilgamesh become friends. They destroy Gods Angel that protected the forest. When Enkidu dies, Gilgamesh realizes his own mortality and seeks immortality. There was only one immortal man at the time. That was the man who obeyed God and built an ark, putting two animals of every kind in it. Moses leaves the immortal part out of the flood story, because Moses, like Enkidu, falls short of the glory of God. |
